Obituary of Robert Vincent Costello

Robert Vincent Costello was a lifelong resident of Erie, Pennsylvania. He was a 33 year veteran of the Marine Corps that included tours both in World War II and Korea; he retired with a rank of Gunnery Sargent. Robert also retired from General Electric as an Expeditor, having been an integral part of many locomotive contracts with China. In his spare time, Robert thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at the Community Blood Bank, and recruited many citizens of Erie to volunteer for donating blood. Robert’s favorite pastime was gardening and writing poetry. He was the son of the late Madeline Fitzgerald and Vincent Costello. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marcella Costello, and his two brothers, Francis and Donald Costello. Robert is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Miehl, of Alexandria, Virginia, two sons, Paul Costello of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Sean Costello of Durham, North Carolina. Robert also left behind a granddaughter, Christina Miehl of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a great grandson, Kyle Hammer of Waterford, Pennsylvania.
