Obituary of Dorothy May Heald

Dorothy May Fornof Heald, age 92, of Erie, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Fairview Manor. She was born in Bellevue, PA on May 9, 1924, the youngest child of Philip and Clara Listman Fornof. Dorothy worked for many years in retail at Halle Brothers and Lazarus department stores prior to her retirement. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading celebrity magazines, playing cards, shopping, and her beloved Sheltie Suzie Q. She found great enjoyment in collecting snowmen and stuffed bears. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin L. Heald, two sisters; Mildred Steinman and Ruth Hunter, one brother Wilbert Fornof, and a grandson Matthew Heald. Survivors include two daughters; Sandra Cashdollar (Rev. Craig) and Carol Ann Amann (James) both of Erie, and her son James Heald of Hiram, GA. She is further survived by four grandchildren: Michelle (James Berman) of New Orleans, LA, Ryan Heald of Atlanta, GA, and Jennifer and Michael Amann of Erie, three great-grandchildren: Carrah Heald of Erie, and India and James (Jake) Berman of New Orleans, LA, a special niece Patricia Beltran (Anthony) of Oxnard, CA, and Deborah Heald of Alpharetta, GA, and several other nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 2 p.m. until time of service there at 5:30 p.m. The service will be conducted by her son-in-law Rev. Craig Cashdollar. Private interment at Dicksonburg Cemetery, Conneautville, PA. A special note of loving appreciation and gratitude to Bob and Marisa Burns of Louisville, OH for their kindness, friendship, and loving care they have provided to our mother’s sheltie for the past four years when she was no longer able to care for her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hearts Promise Sheltie Rescue of New Castle, PA, an all-volunteer organization established to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Shelties, C/O Michael LaMont, 219 E. Meyer Ave., New Castle, PA 16105.
