The Rev. Billie B. Loomis, age 97, of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully at Manchester Commons surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on February 19, 1919, the son of the late Harry E. and Edith O. Conner Loomis. He graduated from Millcreek H.S. in 1936 and served four years in the US Army Signal Corps during WWII in the South Pacific and Japan. He was employed at Erie City Iron Works for 39 years and 7 years at Van Air Systems. For 30 years he served as a Lay Pastor at Christ Lutheran Church, Springboro, PA where he was named Pastor Emeritus. At the age of 74, Billie was ordained in the ELCA in 1993 after attending Trinity Seminary in Columbus, OH. He served at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Erie and Trinity Lutheran Church in McKean and was an Associate Pastor at Luther Memorial. Billie was a life member of the East Erie Turners, Presque Isle Rotary Club where he was a charter and honorary life member, and the Acacia Club. He was a member of the Masonic Tyrian Lodge, F & AM (honorary and former Past Master) and the Erie Consistory. Rev. Loomis was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Ettagene Smith Loomis, and one brother Harry C. Loomis. He is survived by three daughters; Nancy B. Ames (Charles) of Bryan, OH, Joanne R. Loomis of Millcreek Twp., Beverly J. Randall (Charles) of Millcreek, seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to Luther Memorial Church, 225 West 10th Street, Erie, PA 16501 on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. for the Funeral Service. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
