Clarke S. “Doc” Bressler, Jr., age 94, of the Regency at South Shore, Erie, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at his residence. He was born in York, PA on May 6, 1922, the son of the late Clarke S. and Josephine M. Tinnemeier Bressler, Sr. Clarke graduated from Mercersburg Academy and MIT with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1944-1946. He was employed at GE starting in 1948 and retiring in 1984 as Western Regional Sales Mgr. of Marketing and Sales for the locomotive division. Doc was an avid sailor and was a past Commodore of the Erie Yacht Club, a member of the Railroad Club because of his love for model trains, the Presque Isle Rotary Club, and the Hamot Board of Corporators. He was an accomplished pianist. He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years Doris “Dee” F. Young Bressler, two children; Dr. Bruce Bressler (Kazuko) of Green Bay, WI, Constance Farrell (Jack) of Erie, three grandchildren: Scott Bressler (Dalena), Nicole Marlett (Drew), Amy Leonard (Dan), six great-grandchildren: Jack, Megan, Sophie, and Natalie Marlett, and Ryan and Matthew Leonard. He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Lucy Marlett. The family wishes to thank the caregivers and staff from Interim Health Care, the staff of the Regency at South Shore, Drs., nurses, and staff of the ACE Unit at Millcreek Community Hospital, VNA Hospice, and Dr. James Lin. Doc’s spirit will live on in the entire Bressler Family. Private Services were held at the convenience of the family through the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Droopy Basset Rescue, 15581 Stewart Hill Rd., Union City, PA 16438 or the Reyburn Sailing School, PO Box 648, Erie, PA 16512.
