William “Bill” Robert Perry, age 64 of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully on January 21, 2017. He was born in Erie on September 13, 1952, a son of the late Robert and Viola Brown Perry. Bill graduated from McDowell High School in 1971. He retired from Millcreek Twp. after 40 years of service and was the Maintenance Supervisor for over 25 of those years. He was an elected member of the Millcreek School Board and was a former volunteer of the West Lake Fire Department. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Times Old Newsies. Bill was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Indians and Browns and was overjoyed to see his Indians make it to the World Series in 2016. Bill was a caring and compassionate man who loved his family and his community. Some of his favorite memories were family trips when his sons were younger and was the master of the road trip, always trying to take the road less traveled. Bill had a passion for history and wanted his boys to have the best education possible, which prompted him to run and later be elected to the Millcreek School Board. Through his dedicated career within the township he made a difference in the lives of many and he will always be remembered as a friend to everyone he met. Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eleanor Mitchell Perry; their four sons, Jason Perry of Erie, James (Paula) Perry of Cleveland, OH, Jonathan (Abby) Perry of Erie and Joshua Perry of Erie; one grandson, Oliver William Perry and one sister, Catherine (Thomas) Krill of Erie. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd, on Wednesday from 1-3 and 6-9 PM and are invited to funeral services there on Thursday Afternoon at 1:00 PM. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Lake Volunteer Fire Department 3763 West Lake Rd. Erie 16505.
