Obituary of Amelia Nellie Boraten

Amelia Nellie Deloski Boraten Amelia N. Deloski Boraten entered eternal rest on Friday, January 27, 2017, to be with her husband Edward. She married Edward John Boraten seventy-two years ago on January 27, 1945. Amelia was born on May 6, 1920 in Ellwood City, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Sonski Deloski. She graduated from Shenango H. S. near New Castle, PA in 1938. She did defense work at Webster Air Corp. of Cleveland, OH. She married her longtime friend Eddie Boraten from Crossingville, PA in 1945 and moved to Erie. She and her husband were founders of Our Lady of Peace Church and she had been a member of the Rosary Society. She enjoyed crocheting, working in her flower garden, watching the birds and the sunset off the Peninsula, baking, and camping at their hunting camp in the mountains. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She traveled with her husband twice across the U.S., to Mexico, Hawaii, Canada, Alaska, and twice to Europe including; France, Italy, Portugal, and their ancestry country of Poland. Her husband Edward preceded her in death in 2003. Also, preceding her in death were her sister Wanda (at the age of 10) and two infant grandsons. Survivors include her devoted daughters; Edrye Boraten, Melrose Buhl (Charles) and a devoted son John Boraten (fiancee Lynda Harvey), two grandchildren; Charles Buhl, Jr. (Molly) and Kristen Buhl Grippe (Peter), five great-grandchildren: Anna and Nolan Buhl and Charlotte, Daniel, and Olivia Grippe. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Asbury for their wonderful care and concern for Amelia while she resided there. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge, 4855 West Ridge Rd., Erie, PA 16506, Because You Care, Inc., 6041 West Rd., McKean, PA 16421 or to the charity of one’s choice.
