Obituary of Barbara J. Loucks

Barbara “Barb” J. Thompson Loucks Barbara “Barb” J. Thompson Loucks, age 81, of Edinboro, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at UPMC-Hamot. She was born on June 12, 1935, the daughter of the late George and Estella Walls Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Al Loucks in 1997 and two brothers; Bob and Eddie Thompson. Barb retired from Edinboro University after 33 years working in the Housekeeping Dept. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes R.C. Church, a life member of the Girls Scouts Western PA, a life member of the Edinboro Area Historical Society, a member of the Kiwanis International Heritage Society, Campus Ministry of Edinboro University, Shadbush Club of Edinboro, the Welcome Club of Erie, AFSCME Chapter 13, a charter member of Goodell Gardens and Homestead in Edinboro, a volunteer at Hermitage House Youth Services and Mercy Center for Women and its program Dress for Success. She was honored as a Women Making History 2011 by the Mercy Center for Women. She is survived by many good friends. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 12:00 Noon until time of Funeral Service there at 1:00 p.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
