Marjan (Mark) A. Petrinec

Marjan (Mark) A. Petrinec, age 69, of Millcreek Township, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 27, 2017, after battling heart disease for many years.  He was born in Croatia on May 12, 1947 to the late Steven and Caroline Dragica (Taritas) Petrinec, and later resided in Lackawanna, New York, before moving to Millcreek Township 50 years ago.  Throughout the years, he was employed at Snyder Tank in Buffalo, NY, A.O. Smith, Lovell’s, and AMSCO in Erie, before retiring from Steris Corporation in 2007 as a Maintenance Supervisor.  Mark married his beloved wife, Patricia G. Jenkins, on August 13, 1966, and soon after began his family, which was the center of his world.  He was not only a devoted husband and father, but the cornerstone in his family’s foundation-giving strength, support, advice, and help to anyone and everyone that he could.  He instilled the values of hard work, dedication, loyalty, family, and love to his children and grandchildren.  He loved to cook for his family, and to garden and share his produce with his neighbors, family, and friends.  He could, and would, fix almost anything-whether it was a bike, an appliance, a vehicle, or a computer and worked alongside his children teaching them as he did.  He enjoyed finding humor in everyday life, and his laughter and wisecracks will forever be remembered.  In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his father-in-law Russell N. Jenkins, Sr. and Ethel V. (Paulson) Jenkins.  Survivors include his wife, Patricia, his brother Karlo (Ana) Petrinec of Blasdell, NY, a nephew, John Petrinec of CA, brother-in-law Russell N. Jenkins (Susan) of Pittsburgh, PA, niece Melissa Aston of Chicago, Il, and his four children and children-in-law, all of Erie County:  Stephan R. Petrinec (Michele), Kristina M. Konieczny (Chris), Scott A. Petrinec (Brenda Neiswonger), and Kimberly S. Petrinec-Snider (Justin Rivera).  He is also survived by 15 grandchildren/grandchildren-in-law, and 1 great-grandchild: Aimee Petrinec, Tamica Petrinec, Jacob Brooks (Katlynd Silvis), Tara Petrinec, Julia Konieczny, Isaiah Konieczny, Joshua Adams, Jonah Petrinec, Dante Petrinec, Xavier Petrinec, Dimitri Petrinec, Mason Snider, Charlie Snider, Eli Snider, Archer Rivera, and Joseph M. Swanger.  Family and friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at 6:30 p.m.  Memorial contributions can be made to Boots on the Ground, 913 State Street, Erie, PA 16501, Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, or Erie Christian Fellowship Church, 5900 Sterrettania Rd., Fairview, PA 16415.
