Obituary of Betty Jane Gibbs

Betty Jane Gibbs, age 83, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Wednesday May 17, 2017.  She was born in Duluth, MN on November 7, 1933 and raised with three brothers, Howard, Roger and Robert E. Olson.  She is the daughter of the late Theodore and Mamie (Carlson) Olson and was also preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Gibbs.

She was a resident of Millcreek Twp. for over fifty years and was a bus driver for Millcreek Schools for over seventeen years.  She drove for the special education children for the last ten years before her retirement.  Betty was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, the Presque Isle Women’s Club and volunteered in the genealogy department at the county library for over ten years.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, painting, and attending the YMCA. 

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert E. Gibbs; their five children, Debra Rastetter, Judy Conley, Ronald (Debra) Gibbs, Robert (Karen) Gibbs and Roger Gibbs; five grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Gibbs, Adrienne Conley, Jamie (Jeremy) Ault, Johnathan (Katie) Gibbs, Brian (Krystal) Gibbs, and five great-grandchildren, Annika Gibbs, Stella Gibbs, Ethan Gibbs, Ada Ault and Madeline Ault.    

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and are invited to the funeral service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church 3968 Hershey Rd. Erie, PA 16506, on Monday morning at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church.
