Bernard “Bernie” N. Snyder, age 81 of Millcreek Twp. and formerly of Cranesville, PA, passed away on Saturday November 11, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital.  He was born in Crossingville, PA on June 3, 1936 a son of the late Eugene B. and Teresa Lucas Snyder.

Bernie graduated from California State Teachers College in California, PA, as an Industrial Arts Teacher.  He started his teaching career in Johnstown, PA, and later taught in Meadville, PA.  Bernie attended night school and became certified in electronics.  This allotted him the opportunity to work in the Aerospace Industry.  He was employed with Radiation Inc. in Melbourne Florida and was a part of the Apollo Program being responsible for the circuit boards.  After the program was shut down, the family moved back to the Erie area and Bernie later retired from General McLane School District.  After retirement, he owned and operated Master’s Touch and Snyder Construction, which dealt mainly with woodworking and designing and building homes.  Bernie took great pride in his craftsmanship and was proud to design and build homes for his family.  He will be remembered as a loving family man who was very active in his faith.  He was a member of the Erie Christian Fellowship Church and was an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judith A. (Grumblatt) Snyder, whom he married on May 1, 1959; their three children, Robin (Bill) Sardini of Millcreek Twp., Tracy Shilling of East Butler, PA and Neal (Jill) Snyder of Crossingville, PA; six grandchildren, Tara (Patrick) Cooper, Sara Robasky, Erin (Rob) Witherow, all of Millcreek Twp., Scott (Courtney) Shilling of Clayton, NC, Allen “AJ” Snyder and Faith Snyder both of Crossingville; three great-grandchildren, Aidan and Reagan Cooper and Robbie Witherow and his beloved cat Pouncer.
