Obituary of Richard Eger SR

Richard "Sticks" D. Eger, Sr. Richard "Sticks" D. Eger, Sr., age 80, of Millcreek Twp., died at his residence, surrounded by his loving family following a six week illness. He was born in Erie on July 19, 1928, the son of the late Herman and Margaret Acheson Eger. He was a life long Erie resident. He was employed at the Erie Malleable Iron, Co. He was a longtime member of the Pipes and Drums of the Erepa Grotto. He also belonged to the Perry Keystone Lodge 392 of the Masonic Order and to the Siebenbuerger Club. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Richard was an avid archer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and drumming. Richard was a wonderful husband for 57 years to Alice M. Eger, who survives him. Three sons also survive him: Richard D. Eger, Jr., of Erie, Gary M. Eger and his wife, Tamara, of Erie, and Leslie P. Eger and his wife, Karen, of High Point, NC and five grandchildren: Jeffery Eger and his wife, Santina, along with their daughter, Mary Ella Eger; Ryan Eger and his wife, Jenni; Derrick Eger and his wife, Jessica; Becca Kelly and her husband, Kevin; and Vickie Foringer and her husband, Kevin. Richard's family was his first priority, and he will be greatly missed. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Saturday for the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. David McIlvried. Private interment. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16501, or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA 16506.
