Leonard J. Hanson Leonard J. Hanson, age 83, of Erie, passed away at St. Mary's East on Monday, November 10, 2008. He was born on August 29, 1925, the son of the late Edward and Hortensia Emerson Hanson. He was a 1943 graduate of Harborcreek High School and after graduation he served as a Seaman 1st Class in the Navy Seabees during WW II. He retired from Eriez Magnetics after twenty-six years of service and was a member of the Eriez Retiree's Club. Leonard was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy A. Blumish, one sister, Gloria M. Schmitter and one brother, Eddie Hanson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, whom he married January 22, 1949, two daughters, Diane Baumgardner (Rod) of Hyattsville, MD, Mary Lou Dean (Dan) of Fairborn, OH, two sisters, Shirley M. Kleeberg of Southampton, MA, Pat Homan of Erie, five grandchildren: David M. Blumish, James A. Blumish, Renee Baumgardner, Philip Dean, Mary Beth Dean Charron, three great-grandchildren, Scott, Michael, and Mack Blumish, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. A private funeral service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
