Obituary of Leonard Mroz

Leonard Mroz Leonard "Len" J. Mroz was born in Erie on April 11, 1945. He returned to his Creator on September 2, 2012 after a valiant effort against lung cancer. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Linda, two sons, Laurence "Larry" (Kelly) of State College, and Lance (Winnie) of Edinboro, a daughter Lisa Radock (Damian) of Fairview, two sisters, Sophie Kosiorek and Caroline (Tom) Maruso of Erie, and brother-in-law, Robert Fuller (Luci) of Akron, Ohio. He is also survived by four grandsons and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Eva and Chester Mroz, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Josephine Fuller and Regina O'Shea, his brother-in-law, William (Slim) Kosiorek, and his mother- & father-in-law, Vivian & Ralph Semrau. Len graduated from Erie Technical Memorial High School and Alliance Technical Institute and attended Gannon College and Penn State Behrend. He founded L. J. Mroz Design Service in 1983; specializing in the design of precision plastic molds after working 15 years at Triangle Tool Company. He also worked at C&J Industries for many years, retiring in 2010. In service to his profession, he was Director of the Society of Plastics Engineers, elected president 1976-77, and named Man of the Year in 1979; he was International Councilman for the Board of the Society of Plastics Engineers Association 1996-2002; and a Director of the National Tool & Manufacturing Association, serving as president in 1989 and 1990. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was active in many organizations: Tyrian-Commonwealth Lodge F & AM, serving as worshipful master in 1978; Erie Valley Scottish Rite bodies; Zem Zem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Erie; Elk Valley Rotary Club; and Fairview High School Music Boosters, a past president. He was a friend of Bill W. and served as a marble man for a period of time along with performing other service work. Len enjoyed photography, reading, golf, cooking, woodworking, polka music, dancing, antique/classic cars, and spending time with family and friends. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Dusckas Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road. Masonic services will be presented by Tyrian Commonwealth Lodge at 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA 16506. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Suite 244, Erie PA 16501, or the charity of one's choice. Enhance your memorial with a slideshow and video
