Donald Raymond Donahue, age 92, of Spring Hill Retirement Community, passed away on Thursday February 11, 2021. He was born in Erie on November 16, 1928 a son of the late Arthur Sr. and Elizabeth (Lyden) Donahue. He was the husband of Marjorie (Schrimper) Donahue whom he married on November 22, 1958. Don attended Strong Vincent High School. He was a long-distance truck driver for Hammermill/International Paper Co. where he was known as the “Irish Rover” and retired in 1990. He was a life member of the Cascade Club and bowled in the Erie Classic League and many state bowling tournaments. Don was an avid fisherman and captain of his boat the “MAR-DON”. He loved sports and was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns, Boston Celtics and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Don proudly served his country during WW II as an Honoree in the US Merchant Marine, which is now known as the Military Sealife Command of the US Navy. In addition to his wife Marge, he is survived by nephews, Patrick (Dorothy) and Robert Donahue and Jonn (Kristin) Schrimper and a niece, Jenny (Michael) Sheehan and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Although Don and Marge had no children of their own, they enjoyed following the lives and activities of their many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Jr., John (Jake) and Leo Donahue, a sister Shirley Calato, nieces, Rita Donahue and Lee Marie Calafato; and nephews, Gary, Michael and Arthur III Donahue. Funeral services were private and held at the convenience of the family with interment in Erie Cemetery.
