Allene Hertner Min, formerly of St. Marys, PA, died on December 19, 2022 in Erie, PA. She was married to Dr. Henry Min (deceased) and mother to Lane Min Baird of Erie, PA, Henry Min Jr., of Collegeville, PA, and Barry Min of Columbus, OH. Allene was born to Edwin and Etheldred Hertner in Erie, PA on September 30, 1926. Her older sister, Phyllis Hertner Mosier, from Harborcreek, PA, preceded her in death. Allene graduated from Erie East High School and the Hamot Nursing School where she earned Registered Nurse credentials. She was child of the Great Depression and a member of the “greatest generation” having seen many of the boys from her high school class perish in the final battles of World War II. She was widowed at the age of 25 when her first husband, Sam Liocano died in 1952. Sam and Allene had one daughter, Lane Min Baird. In 1958, Allene married Henry Min, who adopted Lane, and they moved to St. Marys, where Henry established an Orthopedic Surgery practice. The two boys, Henry Jr., and Barry were born in St. Marys. Allene had six grandchildren, Peter Baird of Pittsburgh; Wesley Baird of Lakewood, OH; Katee Dixon and Carley Min of Zanesville, OH; Eleanor Min and Natalie Min of Collegeville, PA. There are three great-grandchildren, Charlotte Baird, Violet Baird, and Emma Dixon. Allene was a passionate football fan, attending Penn State home football games for many years and more recently an NFL fan, watching nearly all the weekly broadcasts, especially to watch her favorite player, Tom Brady. In her younger years, Allene was active in the St. Marys community as a member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church, serving as a Trustee, Elder, and active in the Women’s Circle. She served as a board member of the Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital and was active in the Eastern Star and the Women’s Auxiliary of the Elk County Medical Society. She was also active in a local book club, stock club, and bridge club. She was the last living member of her high school friends’ Termite Club. Family and friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie PA, on December 26, 2022 from 2-4 pm with a short funeral service following. A memorial service at her home church, Shiloh Presbyterian in St. Marys, PA will occur later.
