Shirley Marion Simon Christensen

Shirley M. Christensen, age 85, of Millcreek Twp. died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at St. Vincent Health Center. Born on March 13, 1926 in Erie, the daughter of the late, Rudolph and Ellen Marie Barry Simon.

She graduated from Strong Vincent H.S. in 1944 and was a life-long member of Luther Memorial Church. She was married to her husband of 61 years, Robert C. Christensen on February 18, 1950.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pearl M. Sosnoskie. Shirley was a Charter Member and Past Matron of Delta Chapter #516 OES, and a member of Gridley Chapter #324 OES. She was a past member of the Women's Club of Erie, a member of the Erie Yacht Club, and wintered in Siesta Key, Sarasota, FL, with her husband for the past 27 years. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, boating, and taking cruises.

She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Christensen, one daughter, Chrissie L. Seward (Richard) of Fairview, one son, Gary R. Christensen (Margaret) of Fairview, four grandchildren: Richard M. Seward, Jr. (Jessica) of Oakton, VA, Susanne L. Seward of Tysons Corner, VA, Wade and Claire Christensen at home.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 p.m. Private service and interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
