Betty L. Hassell Betty L. Hassell, beloved wife of Charles C. Hassell, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the age of 90. She is survived by her children; Kathleen Theobald (Patrick) of Lakewood, OH and C. Daniel Hassell (Ellen) of Harrisburg, PA, her sister Karen Henderson (Robert) of Oil City, brother Robert Schott (Karen) of Wisconsin, grandchildren; Mary Theobald, Elizabeth Seyala (Nazar), Benjamin Hassell, Rose Turner (Ian), Lydia Hassell and great-grandchildren: Adam Seyala and Quinn Turner. Betty has now joined her husband Charles and her sister Marilyn Staab in eternity. She was born and raised in Oil City and was the daughter of the late Robert and Kathleen Schott. Upon graduation from St. Joseph H.S. in Oil City, she went to work for the Oil Well Supply Company, where she met and subsequently married Charles in 1952. They moved to Erie in 1957 and settled there to raise their family. During their many happy years together they both enjoyed creative crafts and spending time with family. Betty gave her time to sewing, cooking, cake decorating, knitting, and quilting. She was a long-term member and volunteer at the Glenwood YMCA and a member and volunteer at Elmwood Ave. Presbyterian Church. A Memorial Service will be held at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. at the convenience of the family. She will be buried next to her husband in Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s honor to the Elmwood Ave. Presbyterian Church, 2816 Elmwood Ave., Erie, PA 16508.
