Obituary of Dorothy E. Semelka

Dorothy “Dot” E. Semelka age 98 of Girard, passed away following a brief illness at UPMC-Hamot Hospital on Thursday June 17, 2021. She was born in Erie on January 17, 1923, a daughter of the late George and Loretta (Barthelmes) Amann. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Pete Lasko; one brother, George Amann and five sisters; Evelyn Schwartz, Arvilla Formica, Betty Lasko, Lucille Amann and Rose Edwards. Dot was very active and was always moving and doing something. She was a member of the Triboro Senior Center in Fairview and participated in their many activities. Dot enjoyed to crochet and loved making blankets for Project Linus, which donates blankets to newborns in hospitals. She also enjoyed the Peninsula, fishing, puzzles, painting and hanging out with her friends. She is survived by two sons, Erich (Maribeth) Semelka and Robert (Char) Lasko; five grandchildren, Erich (Lindsey) Semelka, Brad (Chelsey) Walker, Darla (Kevin) Kindle, Greg Lasko and Jim (Amy) Lasko; six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and her best friend, Flo Hinspeter. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.
