Eleanor Jean George Zimmer

Ellie went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday December 17, 2022 at Forestview Nursing Facility, Millcreek Twp. She was born in Derry, PA on October 15, 1936 a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Letty J. (Boring) George. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Youngs and Clara M. Sutton.

Ellie was a 1955 graduate from Academy High School. She worked from then until 1967 at Bell and General Telephone Co. On July 8, 1961 she married her husband David F. Zimmer, he survives. Together in 1990, they started Phase II Enterprises in Lake City, PA and Lake City Family Laundry until their retirement. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 65 years. Having served on the Board of Deacons, the church choir and was president of the American Baptist Women’s Ministries for several years. The joys of her life have been her sons and grandchildren. She was proud of them each for their gifts and talents.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Dean A. (Marikay) Zimmer and David T. Zimmer; grandchildren, Jordan, Maranda and Kendra. She is further survived by one sister, Frances A. (William) Gamble and many nieces and nephews. She has been blessed with many wonderful friends who have been supportive and encouraging through the years.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday morning at Immanuel Baptist Church 901 West 28th St. Erie, PA 16508. Interment will follow in Dunn Valley Cemetery.
