Karen Jean Zeiber Farrell Szymanski
Karen Jean Zeiber Farrell Szymanski, age 64, of Summit Township, passed away unexpectedly at LECOM Medical Center after many years of heart problems. She was born in Erie PA on June 20, 1960, the daughter of the late Lillian Smith Zeiber and Clayton Zeiber, Jr.
She attended Academy High School in Erie PA, graduating in 1978. She also attended Gannon College. She worked many years as a cook for various clubs throughout Erie. She also worked in the parts department at Champion Ford. Most recently, she returned to P & M Auto in Erie where she had previously worked for many years.
Karen was a loving sister, mother, wife, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family devoutly and was a great friend to anyone who knew her. She would do anything in her power to help anyone who needed it. She was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues over the years. She had a love of football, especially her Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She loved doing Karaoke and singing “Delta Dawn” most of all. She loved NASCAR and stock car racing at Eriez Speedway. Her greatest love was spending time with her family who were her whole world.
On July 9, 2017, she married the love of her life, Joseph Szymanski after being apart 20 plus years.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, two brothers; Skip Zeiber and Dennis Zeiber (Lisa), two sisters, Barbara Zeiber Davies (Richard) and Sharon Zeiber Stasiewski (Charles Bedow). She is also survived by her son Ryan Farrell (Elizabeth), two daughters; Rhianon Farrell Lopez (Carlos) and Randi Farrell Davis (Vincent), one stepson Joseph Szymanski, Jr. and one stepdaughter, Rachel Szymanski Trojanovich. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren who called her Nana: Damien Farrell, Kyra Farrell, Kaylin Novakowski, Clayton Lopez, Christian Lopez and Carlos Lopez Jr, Matthew Trojanovich, Jr and Jasmine Trojanovich, Lilla Farrell as well as her great grandsons Lorenzo and Oliver Farrell. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, she will be missed by Powell Smith who was her second dad.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 3 pm until 7 pm. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
