Irene Cyterski Hesch
Irene Cyterski Hesch, loving mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 89, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Erie on November 22, 1935, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Catherine Madras Cyterski.
She was employed at the American Sterilizer where she played softball and basketball, coached by her soulmate and husband, George. She also enjoyed her work at Edwards Drug Store when the kids went to school. She was a lifetime member of Blessed Sacrament Church where she volunteered in the library, cafeteria, and as a room mother.
Irene volunteered at Emmaus Soup Kitchen and was a member of the Glenwood YMCA for many years.
She had a wonderful group of friends with whom she enjoyed golfing, cards, and the “occasional” manhattan. If you knew Irene, you know her favorite saying was “Oh Sh…” and we will always remember her for that.
She enjoyed life with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren most of all.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Hesch, four brothers: Edward, Joseph, Norbert, and Leonard Cyterski.
