James E. Price
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of James E. Price, who left this world on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the age of 81. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family after an extended illness and brief hospice care.
Jim was born in Buffalo, NY, and was the cherished son of the late James A. and Dorothy Wells Price. He attended Riverside H.S. in Buffalo.
After his military service in the U.S. Army, he moved to Erie where he met and married the love of his life, Nancy Miller Price. He was employed at the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for many years. In his younger years, Jim was a volunteer fire fighter for Fairfield Fire Dept. Throughout his life he enjoyed boating, playing board games with his family, and was an avid bowler. He was also a part of the Army Reserves for many years. Jim was a member of the F & AM, North East, PA, Lodge #399. He will be remembered for his calm, laid back manner, and a deep love for his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Marjorie Price Oksoktaruk.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Miller Price, his three children; Amy Price Sabol (Andrew) of Fairview, Pamela Price Matje (Robert) of Schwenksville, PA, and James A. Price of Erie, his grandchildren: Elizabeth Sabol of Dayton, OH, Abbey Sabol of Fairview, Meghan Matje of Norristown, PA, Bethany Matje and Conor Matje of Schwenksville, PA, Zachery Price (Darcy), and his great-grandchild Kane Price of Loves Park, IL. He is also survived by two sisters; Shirley Price Joy (John) and Judy Price Hardie (Bill) of Buffalo, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10 am until 12:30 pm followed by the Funeral Service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Rd, Erie, PA 16506 at 1 pm. Private interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
