On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Esther Jane (Pookie) Klakamp of Millcreek Twp., was called to take her seat next to the Lord.

Esther was born in Erie on April 15, 1937, the daughter of the late Elmer William Knobloch and Jane Johnstone Knobloch. She married David L. Klakamp of Edinboro on December 31, 1956.

She worked at Millcreek Twp. Administration offices for 35 years until her retirement. She remained in contact with her former co-workers getting together for luncheons on a regular basis.

Esther was a devoted member of Abiding Hope Lutheran Church. She enjoyed all activities associated with the church and especially with the Ladies of the Church and Pastor Karen.

Some of Pookie’s favorite things were bowling, cooking, reading, and rooting for her baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds. She was also very proud of her Boston Terrier, “Billy” for winning many AKC championships. She was also very involved with the Academy Class of 1955 reunions.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, her sister Jacqulyn Nelson, and her brother William (Bridgette) Knobloch.

She is survived by her son David E. (Karen) Klakamp and daughter Donna. She is also survived by her grandson Brian (Lyndsy) Klakamp and great-grandchildren; Lydia, Lane, and Brant, sisters-in-law Irene (Roger) Owens, Bridgette Knobloch , and Lucille Sickafuse and a very special cousin Marion (Donald) Fuller. Also surviving are her cherished nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

The family will greet friends at 10:30 am prior to the Funeral Service at 11 am on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Abiding Hope Lutheran Church.

All arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abiding Hope Lutheran Church, 2402 West Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16506.
