Shirley Ann Cauley Brown

With love and heavy hearts, we share the passing of Shirley Brown who left this world just shy of her 93rd birthday. Shirley was deeply devoted to her faith and daily prayers and left this world on August 11, 2025, to join our Lord in Heaven.

Shirley was the most beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She helped mold and mentor young children as she was a girl scout leader, cub scout leader, and religious education teacher. She enjoyed baking and was well known for her cookies and famous sour cream bread. She adored and was very proud of her family and would brag about them to anyone she met.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Edward (Red) Brown, two daughters, Carol Marie and Luanne, grandson, Christopher Woodward, her parents, Ida and William Cauley, Jr., sons- in- law, Ernest Enssle and Bruce Sawtelle, two sisters, Mary Jackson and Regina (Jean) Nearhoof, and a brother, Vincent Cauley.

She is survived by four daughters: Pauline Enssle, Cindy Sawtelle, Sharon Johnson (Gary), and Jeanette O’Leary (Kevin) and three sons: Ed (Robin), Dan (Sue) and Randy, one sister, Carolyn Strough, two brothers, William Cauley (Nancy) and Michael Cauley (Karen). She is further survived by 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.

Friends may call at St. Stephen R.C. Church, 1237 West 21st Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Saturday, August 16. 2025 from 10 am until the Funeral Mass at 11 am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. handled all the arrangements.
