David Carne Obituary

David William Carne, 78, of Erie, PA and Naples, FL passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by family, on April 7, 2025, in Naples, FL. We are certain he was greeted by family, friends and his dogs Gysmo and Nelson, that left before him. Always strong, always resilient, always bouncing back, he now leaves a hole in the hearts of those that love him.

David was born in Buffalo, NY to Emory Milton Carne and Mary Larson Carne on September 27, 1946. He attended high school at Strong Vincent and graduated in 1964. Before being drafted into the Army, he worked for Uniflow, in Erie, PA. He joined the United States Army in 1966 and was stationed in Vietnam. After returning home from Vietnam he worked for Dunn & Bradstreet. He also worked as General Manager in the car business for many years. After moving to Atlanta, GA he opened his business, First American Payment Systems, in 1996. He enjoyed golfing as much as possible, loved watching every episode of NCIS and fishing on Lake Erie. He participated in many Veterans events in his Naples community, Silver Lakes. Last spring he was honored to attend a Veterans trip to Washington, DC, with many other fellow veterans. He struggled with cancer from agent orange for over 15 years.

David is survived by the love of his life (44 years), Sue Haas, of Erie, PA and Naples, FL. His stepchildren, Shawn Haas (Karen) of Erie, PA, Stephanie Siegworth (Robert) of Atlanta, GA and John Haas of Struthers, OH. His granddaughters, Candace (Boo) Tyler and Averi (Meatball) Haas were a huge and special part of his life. His three brothers, Phil Carne (Debra) of Sherwood, IL, Dennis Carne of Erie, PA and Donald Carne of Erie, PA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
