Carol Anne Heider

Carol Anne Heider, age 86, of Erie, PA (formally of Kittanning, PA) passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 with her husband of 66 years at her side.

Carol was born in Kittanning, PA, the daughter of the late Daniel P. Yapp and Sarah (Reese) Yapp on October 24, 1938. She graduated from Kittanning H.S. then went on to earn a degree in English/Spanish from Thiel College. She worked as a teacher in Gallipolis, OH before relocating to Kittanning with her family, where she worked beside her husband at Kittanning Print Shop. She then spent 19 years as an English/Spanish teacher in the Armstrong School District where she used her Spanish skills during several class trips to Mexico and Spain. Her world revolved around her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She spent her spare time riding horses and swimming in her pool. She was known to her family for her “iced tea” and cookies, especially chocolate chip and Christmas sugar cookies.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband William “Bill” C. Heider, one son David Heider (Tracy), one daughter Cassandra Scardina (Richard), two grandchildren, Lindsey Kirkpatrick (Dale), Lauren Mashyna (Philip), great-grandchildren Kellen, Fallon, Greyson, Griffin, and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Abiding Hope Lutheran Church, 2402 West Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11 am. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 am until 11 am.

Private interment.
