Jane Marie (Yukon) Hartman went to be with her Lord on September 17, 2025, at Saint Vincent Health Center with some of her children by her side. She was well cared for by medical staff during many years of declining health. She was born March 6, 1938, a daughter of the late William F. Yukon and Armelya (Griffin) Yukon.
Most who survive her live in Erie, PA, except where noted. She is survived by seven of her eight children, whom she shared with her first husband, the late Charles E. Levesque. They are Linda Maloney (Mark) of Waterford, PA, Michael Levesque (Michelle), Deborah Levesque, Diane Yankosky (Stanley) of Cochranton, PA, Charles Levesque (Jane) of Medina, OH, and twins, Robert Levesque and William Levesque.
She is also survived by 12 of her 14 grandchildren, Jessica Duistermars (Kenneth) of West Burlington, IA, Joshua Levesque, Danielle Levesque, Jacob Levesque, Matthew Leininger, Sarah Leininger of Chicago, IL, Mikaela Levesque, Maxwell Levesque, Mitchel Levesque, Amanda Nieder (Greg), Erika Levesque and Brandon Levesque (Amanda).
Jane was also great grandmother to Dagr (aka Dax) Bell, Adiya Duistermars, Miria Duistermars, Jonah Nieder and Samuel Nieder.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcia Jordano, and two of her grandsons, Mason Levesque and Jared Maloney.
Her surviving siblings are Charles Yukon (Betty) of Fairview, PA, and Gary Yukon. She’s also survived by a sister-in-law, Linda Yukon. Preceding her in death are two sisters, Marilyn DeWolf and Lorraine Spires, and two brothers, Larry Yukon and Douglas Yukon.
She had many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jane graduated from McDowell High School. She and three of her cousins were the first in their family to accomplish this goal.
In later years, she took interior design courses. These landed her a position in Sherwin-Williams’ wallpaper department and helped her vision in remodeling our childhood home. She also took cake decorating classes from notable bakers in the Erie area. She brought joy to her family as she created wedding cakes and many birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren.
Her true dream was to become a nurse. She began this journey at Villa Maria College and succeeded in a local accelerated LPN curriculum. She worked for several medical employers including Stairways of Erie and Erie Homes for Children and Adults.
One of her more interesting positions was as a security guard for Doyle Security. They tried to convince her to go to detective school at their expense, but she insisted she wanted to be a nurse.
Jane had dear lifelong friends, including her sister-in-law, the late Cheryl Levesque, and Diane Urraro, along with Blanche Gehrlein, Harriet Morris and the late Audrey Burkhart (her cake decorating buddy) and other Sew and Gab Club members.
She was active with the Erie Christian Women's Fellowship and the Ruby Slippers Red Hat group with her daughters joining her.
Jane often attended Harmony Baptist Church in Waterford, PA, when she was able to do so. She was loved by the congregation there.
