David Floyd Zimmer


David F. Zimmer, age 87, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. He was born in Erie on June 10, 1938, the son of the late Elmer E. and Bertha A. Shoemacher Zimmer.

David was a graduate of Tech H.S. In 1957 he joined the US Marines and served in Okinawa.

He was employed at the Lord Corp. for 34 years and in 1990 he began Phase II Entrepreneur which covered several small businesses.

He was very active in his church, Immanuel Baptist, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. While a resident of Spring Hill Senior Living, David began a Men's Fellowship Group to which he was very proud.

He was proud of his family foremost and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, dirt biking with his sons, the Casino, and horse racing and was a co-owner at one time of a racing horse.

David was an A.F.& M. Mason and belonged to the Zem Zem Shrine Club.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Zimmer, one brother Don Zimmer and one sister Shirley Trombetta.

He is survived by two sons; Dean A. Zimmer (Marikay) of Lake City and David T. Zimmer of Orville, OH, three grandchildren; Jordan Zimmer (Kennedy), Maranda Zimmer, and Kendra Zimmer, one great granddaughter Vienna, several nieces and nephews, and many life-long friends.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 4 pm until 7 pm and are invited there on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11 am for the Funeral Service. Interment Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Shriners Children’s Hospital, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or the Erie Veterans Miracle Center, 1573 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16509.
