In Loving Memory of Don Roy Lakey
September 17, 1942 – November 11, 2025
Don Roy Lakey, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, under the care of his loving wife, Anita.
Don was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Payton and Edith Lakey. He spent most of his life in Mesa, Arizona, which he proudly called home for 51 years before moving to Fairview, Pennsylvania, five years ago to be closer to family.
Don was married to the love of his life, Anita Gail Terry Lakey, for 62 wonderful years. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion to one another.
He retired from Honeywell in January 2003 after a long and dedicated career as a Tool Crib Specialist. In retirement, Don could often be found tinkering in his woodshop—his happy place—where his craftsmanship and creativity shined. He was an avid carpenter and loved sharing his handmade treasures with family and friends. Don also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker, and staying active in various retirement clubs, but nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Payton and Edith Lakey; his beloved son, Kevin Lakey; his grandson, Andrew Brown; and his sister, Prebble Alcon.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Anita; his daughter, Pamela (Robert) Brown; his daughter-in-law, Christine (Joe) Bell; his brother, Phillip Lakey; and his cherished grandchildren: Thomas and Joshua (Kevin’s sons), and Khristina, Mason, Ethan, and Robert (Pamela’s children), and his beloved dog, Sheba. His legacy of love and kindness continues through his many great-grandchildren, who will forever remember their Papa’s warm hugs and gentle spirit.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Don’s life on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. Interment will take place immediately after at Laurel Hill Cemetery, located across the street from the funeral home.
Don will be remembered for his steady hands, his kind heart, and the way he made everyone feel at home. His laughter, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the lives of those he touched.
