Richard Urban Bertges

Richard (Dick) Urban Bertges (“Zeke”), age 90, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. Born Oct. 21, 1935, to the late Erban and Mary (Carlos) Bertges. Graduated 1954 from Strong Vincent H. S., he joined the U.S. Army 3rd Tank Battalion, Ft. Stuart, GA. Worked at High Pressure Equipment Company where he met “the love of his life” Nancy Hornaman. They married in 1959. He also worked for Uniflow Manufacturing Company for 30 years and the Millcreek School District for 10 years before retiring. Dick was a member of the American Legion, Elks, and Siebenbuerger Club. He enjoyed gardening, baking, and all sports. He was everyone’s “fix it man”. His kindness, love, and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all.

Dick is survived by his wife, Nancy (Hornaman) Bertges, his son Rick Bertges (Nancy) and grandson Grant of Powell, Ohio. Step-granddaughter, Amber (Ryan), and great- granddaughters; Aleah and Hayden Fair of Medina, Ohio. Daughter Robyn Eggleston (Rick) of Loudonville, Ohio. Grandson, Sean Eggleston (Dannielle), two great- granddaughters; Ella and Alli of Dallas, North Carolina, granddaughter, Alicia Allerding (Steve), and great- grandsons; Bodhi and Alaric of Strongsville, Ohio. His son David Bertges of Erie, PA, his brother, Daniel (Nancy) of Pittsburgh, brother-in-law John Hornaman (Sandy) of Erie, PA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Preceding him in death are two brothers; Lawrence and Joseph and one sister Joann (Bertges) Schloss.

Friends are invited to call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA 16506 on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 4 pm until 7 pm and are invited there on Saturday, December 6, 2025, for the Funeral Service at 11 am. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
