Gerald “Jerry” J. Stachera


Gerald “Jerry” Stachera, age 79, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Erie on August 17, 1946, to the late Stanley and Madolyn Morrow Stachera.

Jerry proudly served in the US Navy. After his service he was employed at Erie Insurance (IT Division), where he remained for many years until his retirement.

Jerry enjoyed golf, camping, road trips, music, art, dancing, grandfathering, and being with friends.

Jerry loved his family very much and is survived by his wife Catherine (Hancox/Huefner) Stachera, his children: Kristian Stachera, Aaron Stachera (Crystal), Reagan (Bryan Simmons), Steve Huefner (Kyle), Patrick Huefner (Linda), Katy Cope (Barry), and adopted son, Richy Cerro (Ashleigh); one brother John Stachera (Carolyn); and many grandchildren: Noah, Kade, Evan, Cora, and Jacynth Stachera, Matthew Huefner (Chez), Jacob Huefner (Karoline), and Madison Huefner, Zachary, Catherine, and Owen Cope, Keller Simmons, and Beckham Cerro.

Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one sister, Joy Lynn Stachera.

A private memorial service will be announced at a later time.

Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. handled all arrangements.
