Doug Stratton Obituary

Doug Stratton

Doug Stratton, of Erie, PA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 15, 2025, following a brief illness at the young age of 69.

He was born on April 9, 1956, to the late Doris Fiddler Stratton Schultz and Donald Stratton.

Doug was proud of his high school years and briefly attended Edinboro College before deciding it wasn’t the right fit-He soon enlisted in the US Navy, proudly serving four years, before earning his degree from Allegheny College.

Doug worked as an independent health and life insurance broker with Stratton and Associates, a career that allowed him flexibility to coach track and devote himself to his nephews. Though he never had children of his own, he loved Shane and Ryan Reese as if they were his own. He was a loyal Penn State football fan, an avid gym-goer, a boating enthusiast, and the dependable bringer of cherry delight to holiday meals. In recent years, Doug found deep comfort and purpose in his faith.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dennis Stratton, one sister Deedee Owens Bowman, step-sister Jane Hadzega, and nephew Tyler Schwab. He is survived by his sisters; Donna Reese (Don Elderdice), Dorey Hannah, and Doreen Warren, step-sister Sarah Gunther (Bill), step-brother Bob Schultz, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 5 pm until a short service at 7 pm at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Private burial.
