Mary Jane Blood McMichael

Mary Jane (Blood) McMichael, age 101, a longtime Erie resident, formerly of Jamestown, NY, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s West Ridge on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

Known as Jane to many, she was born on October 22, 1924, in Jamestown, NY. The daughter of the late William Philip Blood and Anna Louise Kanavy Blood.

Jane was a member of St. Andrew’s Church, Lawrence Park Golf Club, East Erie Turners, and the American Legion Post II.

Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. McMichael, her twin brother William Blood, and her older brother Gordon Blood. She is survived by her daughter Darlene McMichael (Danny Achille), two grandchildren, Timothy M. Theisen (Jo) and Erin E. Chivers, great grandson, Burke Chivers, and Julie Boetger Iacobucci, who was like a second daughter to her in every way.

Jane leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an extraordinary zest for life. Active and energetic well into her later years, Jane embraced life with enthusiasm and grace. Jane was an avid golfer; she took pride in scoring her first hole-in-one at age 80. She was a dedicated bowler for most of her life and enjoyed playing bocce. She rarely missed an opportunity to stay moving or enjoy friendly competition. One of her greatest joys in life was music and dancing alongside her beloved husband with whom she shared countless memories and smiles.

Jane was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also a cherished friend to many. Known for her outgoing spirit, welcoming smile, and genuine interest in others. Her life was a beautiful example of living life to the fullest, loving deeply, and staying committed to the people and activities she cherished most.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Friends may greet family members at 9 am until the Memorial Mass at 10 am on Monday, December 29, 2025 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 W. 6th Street, Erie PA, 16505.

Private interment will take place in the spring at Laurel Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were handled through the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
