Sonja L. Schuetz

Sonja L. Schuetz, 79, of McKean Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, surrounded by her loving family. Sonja was born on April 7, 1947, in Erie. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Betty (Reichard) Cohlhepp. She graduated from McDowell High School in 1965. Following graduation, she was employed at American Sterilizer until 1975. Sonja married James F. Lindner on November 29, 1969, and lived in Erie where they raised their family. James passed away on August 27, 2012. Sonja remained by his side throughout his illness. Sonja found love again and married Byron D. Schuetz on May 3, 2014. They were able to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary together. Sonja was a loving wife, mother, Grammy, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her life revolved around her family and she was the center of theirs. Sonja’s priority was caring for her family. She had such a kind heart and generous spirit. Nothing made her happier than a house full of her loved ones and shoes piled up at the back door. Sonja enjoyed taking drives, spending time at Presque Isle with her loving husband, attending church, going shopping, attending tractor shows, and watching QVC. Her family was the recipient of many gifts from “The Q.” Sonja’s specialty was making sure there was cake to celebrate any occasion, no matter how big or small. She made holidays extra special and these memories will be cherished forever. Sonja was a member of McKean Methodist Church. Sonja is survived by her loving husband Byron of McKean, two children, Gregory Lindner (grandpup Jango) of Erie and Lisa Schwartz (Shawn) of Palm Harbor, FL, her three angels; Delaney, Logan, and Brennan Schwartz, beloved niece Marcia Lindner (Damir), step-sons; Jeffrey Schuetz (Cathy) of McKean, and Scott Schuetz (Phuong) of Sharpsburg, GA. In addition to her husband James, Sonja was preceded in death by her parents and beloved dogs, Cody and Maggie. Sonja will forever be missed and greatly loved by her family. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 3pm-7pm. The Funeral Service will be held there on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 11am conducted by Pastor Janet Sill. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
