Born to Arthur and Elsie DuBois, Dale was the youngest of eight siblings. A proud Central Vermont native, he spent much of his life working in the granite industry, first learning the trade from his father, Arthur, at Art’s Custom Cutting before officially beginning his career at Rouleau’s Granite. To Dale, this industry was never just a job—it was a defining piece of his identity. He was an absolute force in his craft, earning a reputation as a local legend and one of the very best to ever do it. His skill was nothing short of unbelievable; coworkers and friends often remarked that not a soul could hold a candle to him, and truth be told, Dale knew it too. A master of practical trades, Dale could build or fix just about anything and was famous for confidently measuring a project by eye, only to pull out a tape measure and prove himself exactly right—usually followed by one of his favorite declarations: “It should be a law.” At the absolute center of Dale’s life was his wife, Betty. Together for nearly 38 years, their story began when Betty was just 17 years old. From those early days forward, they built a life rooted in unconditional devotion, family traditions, and unbreakable bonds. They were true partners in every sense of the word. While Dale gave everything to his trade, Betty worked tirelessly alongside him. She was the true foundation of their home and the steady, hardworking heart of their family, navigating life hand-in-hand with Dale.
