Gregory R. Haney

Greg Haney, age 72, of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully due to heart failure in his home with his wife by his side on Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was born on October 8,1953, in Buffalo, NY. He was the son of the late Elaine Kathryn King.

He retired from the Millcreek Police Department. He was a volunteer firefighter with the West Ridge Fire Department and a Pennsylvania State Fire Instructor. Greg was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He was a member of the American Legion. He loved reading books, cross stitching, watching movies, gardening, and spending time with his wife of 50 years, and according to his wife… he was also a royal pain in the butt.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, KarenLee Zurad Haney. They got married on August 4, 1975 in Sardinia, Italy. He always said he was the luckiest man because he got to marry the girl next door.

He is also survived by his four children whom he loved endlessly: Chuck (Heather) Haney of Carlisle, PA. Steve (Leeann) Haney of Fairview Twp., Kelly (Vanessa) Fremer of Fairview Twp., and Jeff Haney of Millcreek Twp.

His grandchildren who he loved spending time with, in moderation are: Jacob Haney, Zack Haney, Richie Kuzmin-Fremer, Aiden Haney, Dylan Haney, Anthony Kuzmin-Fremer. They will always remember their Grandpa Tiki’s love of movies, the military, his candy stash, and his sneezes.

He is survived by his sisters: Kathy Angelidis, Margaret Sanovic, Helena Haney, and Kris Gunter-Smith.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine King, his brother Bill Slack, and his sister Barbra Schultz.

The family would like to invite you to a celebration of life for Greg on Sunday, July 5, 2026. A short church service will be held at Wayside Presbyterian Church at 1 pm, 1208 Asbury Rd, Erie, PA 16505, followed by dinner and drinks for Greg at the America Legion, 4109 W. 12th St,. Erie, PA 16505. Arrangements were conducted by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
