Richard "Rick" James Lord Obituary

Richard “Rick” James Lord

Richard “Rick” James Lord of Erie, PA, got his wings on Sunday, May 31, 2026. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 17, 1953, the son of the late Richard A. and Elizabeth Beyer Lord. His younger years were spent in Springfield, PA, Akron, OH, Ridgewood, NJ, and Carrollton, OH., where he graduated from high school. Ridgewood, NJ was where he became a Boy Scout and found his passion for the outdoors. He attended Kent State, the Rochester Institute of Technology where he learned printing and photography, and he spent a year studying in London, at the London College of Printing. He had an interest in both printing and photography. He was a skydiving instructor. Rick’s passions were a long smooth ride on his motorcycle, jumping out of airplanes; all of those were his “Happy Place” and were true adventures in his life. He also enjoyed Harleys and radio repair. Whenever he spoke of those times, his eyes would light up and he would have the best smile! His employment with the US Airways took him to several places in Ohio, then to Boston and Washington, DC, and finally to Erie, where he made his home. He also worked for Erie Aviation, US Airways, Microair USA, and Moorehead Airport. He was a very social person and loved to talk and as a result had a large circle of friends. He belonged to numerous organizations.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death of by his brother-in-law, James A. Cadmus of North Carolina. He is survived by his sister Kathleen L. Cadmus, his nieces, Holly (Bryan)) Walsh and their 8 children, Heather and Hillary Cadmus, all of NC, and his nephew, Keith (Tammy) Kost and their 3 children, all of Virginia.

As per his wishes, he will be cremated and no services are being held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Injured Motorcycle Riders Foundation, C/O Steve Weston, 9353 Eureka Road, Girard, PA 16417. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.
