Dolores “Lorre” J. Smith McHale Rapp

Dolores “Lorre” J. Smith McHale Rapp, age 93, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge.

She was born in Erie on February 18, 1933, the daughter of the late Elmer C. and Freda Zeigler Smith.

Lorre was a 1951 graduate of Academy H. S. and served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War.

She taught cosmetology at the Erie County Vo Tech and the Erie City Vo Tech. She was also employed at the Dept. of Public Assistance until her retirement in 1993.

She was a member of the Nuova Aurora Club, the Community United Church, where she served as a Director. Lorre also ran the Soup Kitchen at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at the Soldiers and Sailors Home for many years.

She enjoyed playing bocce, bowling, cooking, and playing cards with her sisters.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Francis McHale and her second husband John R. Rapp, one son Michael McHale, seven sisters: Mildred Bretl, Ellen Schultz, Ruth Schmidt, Margaret Martin, Remle Smith, Julie Celeski, and Erma Rhodes

She is survived by four daughters: Kathleen M. Pfister (Ronald) of Erie, Patricia A. Cannarozzi (David Fillman) of Erie, Lorre R. White (Charles), Rachel A. Scofield (T.J.) all of Erie, two step-daughters; Lynn Burchick, Kimberly Deniziak, one step-son Mark Rapp (Marge), one sister Kathleen Koziol (Jerry) of Erie, two brothers; John A. Smith of Erie, Elmer C. Smith, Jr. (Patricia) of Erie, three grandchildren: Lora Cannarozzi, Anthony Cannarozzi, Madison Scofield, three step-grandchildren: Megan Zielinski, Emily Divido, and John Rapp, one great-grandson Mario Corder, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 3 pm until 7 pm and are invited there for the Funereal Service on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 10:30 am. Private interment.

The family expresses a special “Thank You” to the staff at the Regency at South Shore and St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmaus Food Pantry, the Alzheimer’s Association or to LECOM VNA/Hospice.
