James Harold Montgomery

James Harold Montgomery, 84, passed away peacefully at UPMC-Hamot Hospital on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. He was born on April 19, 1942. James was a lifelong resident of Erie, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Erie Strong Vincent High School in 1960 and went on to build a career marked by entrepreneurship.

James began his professional life as a draftsman at National Forge and Robeck Fluid Power Company. He later owned and operated a hydraulic jack business and a restaurant.

Above all else, James was a devoted family man. He cherished the time he spent with his loved ones and took great pride in his family. He also had a special love for his dogs, who brought him much joy throughout his life. In his leisure time, James enjoyed being a tai chi instructor and taking trips to Pennsylvania’s Amish Country, horseback riding, fishing, boating, and weightlifting. James was a sharpshooter and took second place in a contest in Pennsylvania. He was a state champion in 1977 for PA state championship in rifle and indoor pistol shooting. In 1971 he won first place in the PA state power lifting contest.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda Lee Montgomery (DeMarco); his son, Craig James Montgomery and daughter-in-law, Janet Lynn Montgomery; his daughter, Abby Lee Montgomery; his faithful dog, Zeus; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn James Montgomery and his parents Harold and Pauline Montgomery.

James will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to his family, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and in the family he loved so deeply.

Calling hours are on Friday August 7, 2026, from 12-2 pm at the Dusckas Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. followed by a private burial at Laural Hill Cemetery.
