Robert “Bob” Malmberg

Robert “Bob” Malmberg, 90, of Erie, passed away peacefully in the company of family, on Sunday, July 26, 2026. He was born in Erie, PA on October 5, 1935, son and oldest child of the late William Malmberg and Evelyn (Schenker) Mitchell.

Bob graduated from East High and entered military service in the Air Force and was deployed to Germany among other locations. His claim to fame was experiencing the Hungarian Uprising of 1956.

Bob was married to Lois Elaine McCully for 69 years and had three sons. Always busy fixing and repairing, Bob could “take it apart and put it back together” and show the unnecessary left-over parts.

Bob spent most of his working life in the tire business. He co- owned M&S Tire in Erie. Bob and Lois moved to Florida where they owned and ran Tunnel Tire in Ft. Lauderdale with sons, Dion and Pat, for 35 years.

He was a car lover and especially a hot rod enthusiast participating in and attending car shows in Florida where he and Lois lived for many years as well as North Carolina. He was a member of the South Florida Street Rod Club and owned many street rods himself.

In addition to his parents and wife, Lois, Bob was preceded in death by two of his sons, Patrick and Sean, brothers- in- law, Jack Kozak, Harry Hasheian, and Elmo Day.

Survivors include his sisters, Karen Kozak and Marilyn Hasheian, his sister in law, Mona Day, his son Dion (Lisa) Malmberg; his grandchildren DJ (Jessica) Malmberg, Josh (Michelle) Malmberg, Sam (Krystina) Malmberg, and Tessa (Tyler) McCarrier; his great grandchildren: Olivia, Evan, Ellie, Roland, Hannah, Holden, Artemis, Emma, Penny, and Kayla, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Private funeral arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
