Louie G. Manino


Louie G. Manino, age 79 of Millcreek Twp., died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Erie following a lengthy illness. He was born March 2, 1929 in Huey, Pa., one of three sons born to the late Angelo and Flora Scoffone Manino. He had resided in the Erie area for most of his life and had wintered in Ft. Myers, Fla. for many years.


Louie was a United States Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He had also served in the Army National Guard for many years and had attained the rank of Captain. He had attended Clarion State Teacheres College, Penn State University and Gannon College. Louie had been employed as a chemist by the Lord Corporation for 37 years prior to his retirement as manager of technical services. While employed there he developed a number of innovations in adhesives for which he secured patent rights. Louie was a member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed working in his yard.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ugo and John Manino. He is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine C. Miller Manino; his daughter, Christine A. Cooper and her husband Charles of Millcreek Twp.; his son, Jay M. Manino of Ft. Myers, Fka. and several nieces and nephews.


Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend the funeral service there on Thursday at 11 a.m. Private interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
