Obituary of Harold Seib

Harold W. "Bud" Seib, age 87 of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Erie on October 25, 1927, the son of the late Jacob & Ida Bovee Seib. Bud graduated from Strong Vincent High School then served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He spent most of his career with the General Electric Co. where he worked as a photographer. Prior to General Electric, he served as a photographer with the Times Publishing Co. Bud was a founding member of the NW Pennsylvania Chapter of Professional Photographers of Pennsylvania. He was also an accomplished drummer. Over the years, Bud had played with numerous local bands and with the Erie Philharmonic under the direction of former conductor Fritz Mahler. He was a charter member of the Church of the Cross and had also served as a deacon with the former 1st Presbyterian Church. Bud had also been a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he had operated the sound system for several years. He was a member of Koinonia of Erie County, #13. Bud was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Calvert Seib in 1991, two sisters: Almyra Johanson and Leatrice Reichel and one brother, Charles E. Seib. Survivors include his loving wife, Carol Rogers Seib; two sons: Gary Seib (Lisa) and Robert Seib (Denise); two step children: John C. Oviatt (Tina) and Elizabeth A. Oviatt; four grandchildren: Allison, Bailey, Nicholas, and Jordan; three step grandchildren: Charles, Samuel and James Oviatt, several nieces and nephews. Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, June 28th at the Church of the Cross, 5901 Millfair Rd. from 2 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service there at 3 p.m., conducted by the Revs. David Fugate and James Rimmer. Private interment took place at Erie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Church of the Cross, 5901 Millfair Rd, Fairview, PA 16415 or to the VNA Hospice, 2253 West Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16506. The Dusckas -Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, 4216 Sterrettania Road is handling the arrangements.
