Obituary of Viola Frances Perry

Please share a memory of Viola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Viola (“Mumviol”) Frances Brown Perry lived in this world from November 3, 1928 until September 27, 2015, when she left us to reside in her spiritual world. “I know who I believe in.” Viola, a homemaker, volunteer worker, and enlightened human being, was born in Erie County, PA, the daughter of the late Herbert Brown and Mildred Clark Brown. Her brothers Homer Brown and Harold L. Brown also preceded her in death. Her beloved husband Robert C. Perry passed away in 1992. Mrs. Perry was a 1946 graduate of Fairview H.S. and was a proud, lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church, serving on many of its commissions and committees. She was a past president of Asbury United Methodist Women, served as a lay delegate to the Western PA Conference of the United Methodist Church for several years and participated in the activities of the Asbury Church Senior Citizen’s group. Viola served as Judge of Elections in Millcreek’s 14th District for many years. Viola’s intelligence, wisdom, wit, attention to detail and love of history, travel & local and national politics are legendary reminders of a life that was well lived. We will miss her plum pudding (actual recipe is for bouquet pudding!) at every Christmas without her. Viola is survived by her son William R. Perry (Eleanor), daughter Catherine Krill (Thomas) and four grandchildren: Jason Perry, James Perry (Paula), Jonathan Perry (Fiancé, Abby Goerlich) and Joshua Perry. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and are invited there on Friday for the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Private interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Viola’s family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care provided to Viola by Carren from Regional Home Health and Hospice. The family also wishes to extend its gratitude for the endless kindnesses extended to Viola by the Nursing, Personal Care, Housekeeping, and Administrative staff at West Lake Woods Life Services Community. The support provided by all of these individuals was tangible and touching and allowed Viola to live in a safe, comfortable, caring residence during her late life and end of life journey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 4703 West Ridge Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
