Obituary of Elmer G. Zimmer

Elmer G. Zimmer, age 95, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Fairview Manor surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on April 13, 1921, the son of the late Henry and Clara Kiehlmeier Zimmer. He served in the US Army during WWII. Elmer was employed at AO Smith until his retirement. He was a founding member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church and was a very devout Catholic. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards with family and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Winifred and Roberta Zimmer, five brothers: Robert, Bernard, Arnold “Mickey”, Richard, and David Zimmer. Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Peggy L. Himes Zimmer, two daughters; Kim M. Zimmer Hissom of Estero, FL, Terese A. Zimmer Roach (Robert) of Millcreek Twp., four grandchildren: Sara and Rachael Hissom, Christy Roach Foti (Frank) and Robert “Bobby” Roach, one sister Shirley Dovichow of Erie, two brothers; Earl Zimmer (Hazel) and Gerard “Jerry” Zimmer (Rose) both of Erie, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and are invited to Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 2401 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506 on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. for the Funeral Mass. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
