Obituary of Agnes Billisits

Agnes Billisits age 89 of Erie, passed away on Saturday September 17, 2016. She was born in Coverdale, PA on July 19, 1927, a daughter of the late Carmelo and Carletta Zanotelli Burzio. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Stephen F. Billisits, in 2001. Agnes moved to Erie in 1950 and worked as a legal secretary for Attorney James P. Lay III for over 45 years, retiring five years ago. She was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Crazy Eights group, the Asbury Seniors and the Lifeworks morning taichi and walking group. Agnes will be remembered for many things, especially her spaghetti and meatballs and her flower gardens. She also enjoyed taking her annual vacations to the Chautauqua Institute. She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Ziegler and her husband Richard, and Cynthia Billisits and her husband Larry Koppelman; one brother, Anthony Burzio and his wife Betty; two sisters-in-law, Josephine and Carol Billisits. Agnes is further survived by two cousins, Bob Maiolo and Judy Shepherd, numerous nieces and nephews, and her longtime neighbors and adopted family the Dombrowski’s. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, 16506 on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and are invited to a funeral service there on Thursday morning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Bethel Park, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
