James A. “Jimmy” Lampros age 94 of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully of natural causes in his home on Tuesday October 18, 2016. He was born in Fragista Evritanias, Greece on January 1, 1922 a son of the late Athanasios and Chrisanthi Lampropoulos. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ioannis and Kimon Lampropoulos and one sister, Niki Paladinos. James immigrated to the United States in the early 1950’s and lived in Fayetteville, NC. He later moved to Ashtabula, OH, going to work for his uncle in the restaurant business. He would eventually become part owner in Garfield’s Restaurant in Ashtabula, OH and worked alongside his partners for over 50 years. After retiring, he moved to Erie in 2006 to be closer to his family and church community. James was a very active member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, cooking for many dinners and festivals. He was also a longtime member of the Elks Club in Ashtabula, OH. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maria Andanopoulos Lampros; one son, Athanasios (Tom) Lampros and his wife Irene of Erie; three grandchildren, Demitri, Maria and Thomas Lampros; one sister, Fotini Kasadelis and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506, on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. With a Trisagion service on Sunday evening at 6:30 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday morning at 10:00 AM at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church 4376 West Lake Rd. Erie, PA 16505, interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
