Obituary of Nancy Ann Beckman

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nancy Ann Means Beckman, 85, of Erie passed away peacefully on December 3, 2016. She was born the only child of Thomas Edward Means and Myrtle Astrid Linnea Nelson Means and lived all-of her life in Erie. She married Charles William Beckman of Erie in 1953. Friends knew their courtship was a serious one when her future husband painted "Nancy Ann" on the side of his boat. Their happy union of 63 years produced four sons, Charles Edward (nee Elizabeth Sesler) of Towson, Maryland; Richard Arthur (nee Amy Bujnoski), of Millcreek; Robert Vernon (nee Kristen Borawski) of Millcreek; and Thomas William (nee Mary Baldwin) of Efland, NC. The center of her happiness focused on her family. Family members rarely remember her sitting down during meals because she was always taking care of others. Nobody made a better pie or set a more hospitable table on a nightly basis, or hosted a more festive Swedish Christmas Eve. In addition to raising her sons, she doted lovingly on her thirteen grandchildren. Each one cherishes an afghan, Christmas stocking or other garment she hand-knit. She loved and was loved by her family and large circle of friends. Survivors include a dear sister-in-law, Alice Hearn of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Vern and Sarah Walker of Downingtown, Pa. A dear niece-in-law, Clarice (Edler) Robison and her husband, Richard (Robby Robison) and her granddaughter Caroline Beckman, gave angel care to her in later life. The family also thanks the staff of Elmwood Gardens for the exceptional and compassionate care she received. Funeral service are private and being held at the convenience of the family with interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church 1603 West 32nd. St. Erie, PA 16508.
