Obituary of Curtis J. Brooks

Curt “Jaker” Brooks age 63, of Millcreek Twp., passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday February 12, 2017, following a two-year battle with brain cancer. He was born in Erie on January 31, 1954 a son of David J. Brooks and the late Rita L. Penna Brooks. A lifelong resident of Erie, Curt graduated from McDowell High School, where he stared in baseball and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. During high school and college, he worked for his uncle Lew building houses. After graduating from college, he was a stock broker with Dean-Witter for six years and then started his own construction company, Brooks Construction and Amerail Systems. Curt coached MYAA baseball and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing golf. In addition to his father he is survived by his wife of 32 years Denise Miller Brooks, their son, Travis Brooks and one brother, Craig Brooks of Harrisburg, PA. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM, and are invited to attend a funeral service there on Friday morning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presque Isle Partnership, 301 Peninsula Dr. #2 Erie, PA 16505.
