Obituary of Dorothy "Dottie" Emily Jepson

Please share a memory of Dorothy "Dottie" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
with Jesus on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Saint Mary’s Home of Erie. Her family had celebrated her birthday just a few weeks before and look back at that time together as most precious. Dorothy always loved gathering with her family and she will be greatly missed. Born in Erie to Stephen and Hermine Csencsics on August 19, 1930, Dorothy graduated from Academy High School in 1948, where she was a twirler with the band. She continued her education by earning two-year degrees from Grove City College and Edinboro State University (now PennWest Edinboro). Dorothy worked at her father’s company, Censis Manufacturing, as well as a real estate firm, and several law offices in Erie and then Denver, to where she moved in 1975. After moving back to Erie from Denver, she worked in the Accounting Department at Edinboro State University until her retirement in 1990. Dorothy studied the piano for eight years under the tutelage of Juno Almhagen Geiger, a well-known pianist with the Erie Philharmonic. Dorothy loved playing a variety of music genre from classical to pop, all of which she did with great skill and finesse. Born with an active and curious mind, Dorothy continuously sought to expand her knowledge and range of life experiences through travel, reading, lectures and concerts. She took her children on many trips, including Washington DC, Gettysburg, 1000 Islands and most often Roaring Brook Ranch at Lake George, NY. She introduced her family to snow skiing (herself once traveling to Europe to ski the slopes of the Alps), enjoyed playing tennis and bridge, and especially bicycling around her beloved Presque Isle. She was a great animal lover, always enjoying family pets, and especially riding horses whenever she had the opportunity. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Linda Jepson Pavkov of Erie; two sons, Edward (Karolyn) of Knoxville, Tennessee and Daniel (Susan) of Avon Park, Florida; grandson, Jeffrey; as well as cousins in Pittsburgh and Austria. She was preceded by her parents, Stephen and Hermine Csencsics; her son-in-law, Glen Pavkov; and her grandson, Greg Jepson. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30. Further visitation will be held at First Alliance Church, 2939 Zimmerly Road, on Wednesday from 10:30 am until the time of the Memorial Service there at 11:30 am conducted by Pastor Scott Shuffield. Following lunch, entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Mary’s at Asbury Ridge, 4855 West Ridge Road, Erie, PA 16506, Promedica Hospice, 719 Indiana Drive, Erie, PA 16505 or The ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511.
