Obituary of Eugene Smith

Eugene "Gene" H. Smith, age 78, of McKean Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 16, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Johnstown, PA on October 11, 1935, the son of the late C. Emory and Lillie Grumbling Smith. He was a member of the 1st graduation class of McDowell High School. He was employed at and retired from Riley Stoker Company. He loved hunting, fishing, and making wine and cheese with his neighbor. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucinda "Cindy" May Shaw Smith, one daughter, Sandra E. Smith Hultberg of Erie, two sons; Scott Eric Smith (Debra) of East Springfield, Stuart Eliot Smith (Sherry) of Pueblo West, CO, six grandchildren: Katie and Steven Smith of CO, Jason Smith of E. Springfield, Dana Smith of Joplin, Missouri, Jamie Hultberg of Erie, Joshua Smith (Nikki) of AZ, two great-grandchildren; Landon and Payton Smith, one brother, Jacob Smith (Marsha) of TX and one nephew, Jeffrey Smith (Judy) of NC. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, June 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gene's son Scott Smith's Medical Fund in care of the funeral home.
